Today, I live in the Westside with my husband, Tristin. We have two dogs (Manny & Mumu) and two cats. (Dash & Bitters)
I am the youngest child of immigrants from Mexico that came to America in search of a better life. Like many immigrants, I spent time growing up all over the place and in unstable housing conditions: rural Mexico, the suburbs of Los Angeles and Chicago, and Sedalia, Missouri. I know from first hand experience how important stable, truly affordable housing is.
Kansas City is the first place I've ever been able to call home. I moved to 40th & McGee in 2015 (back when rent in Midtown was much cheaper!) and never looked back. It was the first time in my life that I had truly stable housing and I fell in love with Midtown. I worked at Starbucks at 41st & Main (where I met my husband!) and worked my way through college at Park University, where I graduated with a 4.0.
Midtown is where I first got involved in community organizing when I was in college. Driven by my own experiences growing up in poverty, I helped in the fight for tenants rights in Kansas City. I organized alongside other renters in favor of the Tenant Bill of Rights that was successfully passed by City Council in 2019, dramatically expanding the rights of tenants in our city.
I have spent years on boards serving the public and working towards solutions for those in need. From 2020 to 2021, I served on the Ad Hoc Housing Committee for the KCMO Health Commission focused on Kansas City’s Unhoused Population. Professionally, I served as an Inaugural DEI Council member for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners from 2019-2021.
I am honored to serve on multiple city boards and commissions representing the interests of every day people. In 2022, my husband and I bought our home in the Westside. I love my neighborhood: the walkable historically Latino community with little shops reminds me of my childhood in Mexico, where you could walk to buy fresh tortillas or fruit. It's the sort of neighborhood where everyone waves when you drive by. I spent time getting to know my neighbors and was quickly elected vice president of the Westside Neighborhood Association, a role I stepped down from to run for office. I want to lead the way on people-centered policy that positions everyone to have the ability to live and thrive in the city.
In January 2024, I was appointed to multiple Economic Development Corporation Boards. I serve as the Vice Chair of the Board for the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority, (LCRA) as a Commissioner on the Board for the Enhanced Enterprise Zone, and as Commissioner on the Advisory Board for the Chapter 353 Program. Every day working-class people like me, or with backgrounds like me, are all over the city but rarely get to have their voices heard. I am committed to uplifting the voices of every day people from all walks of life and corners of the 4th District to find solutions to the critical issues facing our city.
Testifying at City Hall in support of legislation that established the Office of Language Access! In February 2024, I testified before City Council in support of expanding language access at city hall–an issue near and dear to my heart. I spoke on my experience growing up, having to translate documents for my mother and serve as an interpreter, all while learning English myself. Months of organizing alongside KC Tenants and AIRR led to City Council establishing the Office of Language Access and dedicating resources to making our local government work for people who don't speak English. If you or someone you know speaks Spanish or Arabic, I have a dedicated campaign page for each language and will launch more languages as the campaign goes on!
In 2024, I was named the Jackson County Young Democrat of the Year. Every election, every issue, I show up for the causes I believe in. I knock hundreds of doors, I distribute yard signs, and I fight for the causes I believe in. (I have probably knocked your door before!) I look forward to carrying that tradition on in my own race, knocking thousands of doors, and showing up with a progressive, people-first message you can believe in and vote for.
Accepting the Jackson County Young Democrat of the Year Award at Municipal Auditorium.I love Kansas City, just like you. I plan to raise a family and grow old in this big-little-town. I see the recent success that Kansas City has had and want to make sure we stay on a path of growth, but it is important to me that we take the extra steps to make sure that we don't leave people behind or force people out. Policy choices by politicians have real impacts and I want you to know that you'll have a real working-class neighbor fighting for you in City Hall.
Those who are closest to the problem, are closest to the solution. I am ready to work with everyone to tackle the problems facing you, our neighborhoods, and our city.

I show up for the community too, like in 2023 when I worked with progressive groups to write and pass legislation to ban conversion therapy for minors in Jackson County.
