Rebeca works for the City of Kansas City, MO, can she run for office?
Rebeca works for the City of Kansas City, MO, can she run for office?
- Yes! Just like many of the residents of the 4th District, Rebeca works a normal job and can't just quit to run a campaign for office. Before she announced her candidacy, Rebeca asked the City's Ethic's Commission to issue a formal ruling regarding her candidacy. The Commission unanimously ruled that there are no issues with Rebeca running for office while employed by the city.
- Rebeca does NOT campaign while on the clock with the city. If you receive communication from Rebeca's campaign during work hours or see a post on social media, it is either prescheduled, from a campaign volunteer, or Rebeca is off work during that time.
Why won't Rebeca take corporate PAC money?
Why won't Rebeca take corporate PAC money?
- Like many Americans from across the political spectrum and across Kansas City's 4th District, Rebeca is uncomfortable with the infiltration of big money into our political process and fundamentally believes that campaigns should run on people power. Rebeca's stance isn't unusual, just principled. Many successful candidates across the country have drawn a similar line in the sand! Taking money out of politics puts power back in the people's hands.
- Rebeca is committed to meeting with everyone and working to find solutions that make Kansas City a better place to live for everyone. You don't need to make a donation to sit down with Rebeca.
