Jason Kander Endorses Rebeca Amezcua-Hogan

Jason Kander, U.S. Army veteran, former Missouri Secretary of State, and a nationally recognized progressive leader and advocate on issues of voting rights, mental health, and veterans’ affairs, has endorsed Rebeca Amezcua-Hogan’s bid for Kansas City, MO’s 4th District City Council seat.

“I’m proud to announce that I am endorsing Rebeca Amezcua-Hogan for Kansas City, MO’s 4th District City Council seat. Anyone who’s been in the city for long has seen Rebeca show up time and time again. She is a bold, values-driven, pragmatic leader with genuine roots in poor and working-class America. I know that she will stand up for working families and work to create a more fair city for all,” said Jason Kander “Rebeca’s potential is enormous. She’s one of our city’s most promising emerging progressive leaders and I know that she will bring the heart, hustle, and vision that Kansas City needs. I know that our city and residents will be better off with her voice on Council.”

“It’s incredibly humbling to have the endorsement of Jason Kander, a proven and experienced progressive leader. I am deeply appreciative of Jason for his support and look forward to continuing to do what this campaign has done since we launched: connect with voters, listen to their issues, and work towards building a Kansas City that works for everyone,” said Rebeca Amezcua-Hogan.

Since launching her campaign on June 3rd, 2025, Rebeca, who will be the first Latina elected in over twenty years and youngest woman ever elected to Kansas City, MO’s City Council, has announced the endorsement of over a dozen labor unions and numerous elected officials, small business owners, and stakeholders. Her campaign just posted one of the largest in-district quarterly fundraising filings in the history of the city. She is currently the only candidate filed for the 4th In-District seat.
